The 2009 Southern Gas Association Offshore Gas Operations Conference and Exhibit was held at the Moody Gardens Hotel and attracted 80 natural gas operations industry professionals. Presentations featuring pertinent information regarding future hurricane activity that may affect the natural gas industry in 2009, a presentation which focused on the effects of natural gas storage, an MMS update, a presentation that focused on the current state of affairs in the USA and the effects on the natural gas industry, a panel discussion that detailed preparation and post-storm recovery experiences following major hurricanes, breakout sessions, and an exhibit.

- Projections and expectations for hurricane damage in the 2009 season were given
Gas Storage Update

- Natural gas storage capacities in the coastal regions and how storage impacts producers and pipelines companies’ prices and day-to-day activities were reviewed
MMS Update
Alex Alvarado, Minerals Management Service
- Discussed what gas companies should expect in 2009, areas of particular emphasis, policies and procedural changes, etc.
Oil & Gas Economics and Future
Don Briggs, Louisiana Oil & Gas Association
- Reviewed the gas industry’s outlook given the currents state of the national economy, the new political environment, and how gas companies are coping with tighter credit markets, less working capital, etc.
